Woman delivering a package in the dark

Amazon is launching our Light a Path campaign for the fourth year, which will include a series of messages encouraging Amazon customers to create safer delivery environments during dark hours. Over the next few months, you will see campaign messages across Prime Video, Amazon Music, Amazon live sports broadcasts, and more. The messages will remind customers to turn on exterior lights, secure pets, and add clear delivery instructions in the Amazon app before you arrive.

Your safety is our priority. With shorter days ahead, we wanted to share our top tips and recommendations to make delivering during dusk, nighttime, and early morning hours safer for you.

Preparing for your route
Remember to bring a handsfree flashlight or headlamp to light up any dark spots. Wear a high-visibility, reflective safety vest as your outermost layer. You can ask for a free Amazon-branded safety vests at the delivery station. Also, enable Dark Mode in the Amazon Flex app. To turn Dark Mode on or off, go to the Main Menu > Settings > Display theme.

While delivering

Make sure your headlights are on when it is dark outside, including one hour before and after dawn and dusk. Keep more distance between you and the vehicle in front of you to give yourself more time to react, and watch or for pedestrians and wildlife. Before you arrive at a delivery stop, use the “Notify of Arrival” feature in the Amazon Flex app to send a message to the customer. You can ask them to turn on outdoor lights for added visibility or to secure any pets. In the Amazon Flex app, tap the question-mark icon (?) > Text the Customer > Notify of Arrival.

At delivery stops

Park in well-lit areas near the Amazon customer’s address. Check for any Delivery Notes before leaving your vehicle. Every time you leave your vehicle: put it in park, turn it off, take your keys, and lock up to prevent package or vehicle theft. Never leave your vehicle running unattended. When approaching the customer’s house, watch for trip hazards such as toys or an uneven sidewalk, and use walking paths. Thank you for delivering smiles to Amazon customers.
