You impact the lives of customers with each delivery you make, and some deliveries make a difference for the entire community.

The Community Delivery program enables Amazon Flex delivery partners like you to bring meals and supplies from food banks and other local organizations to the people who need them the most. You are paid for these deliveries just like any other delivery block—and the nonprofit and the people receiving the deliveries get the service free of charge.

Food banks and other support services have always been crucial to communities, but COVID-19 changed access to basic necessities for many of our neighbors. We launched Community Delivery in 2020 to help bridge that gap. Since then, you have helped deliver more than 30 million meals to people with disabilities, vulnerable seniors, individuals without access to transportation, and communities facing language barriers. Many families would have great difficulty accessing food without the program.

Residents in the Los Angeles area, for instance, have relied on the partnership between the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and Community Delivery since the start of the pandemic. The food delivery service offers a contactless option for older adults and those with underlying health conditions who are often the most vulnerable. The future was uncertain in early 2020, and local delivery partners like you transported 3,000 boxes a day with a week’s worth of fruit, vegetables, dried beans, rice and other foods. You continue to help food banks reach those most in need across the US.

“It makes you temporarily forget your own problems,” said delivery partner Adrianne Bryant, who has delivered with Amazon Flex since 2021. “It feels really good to be part of this.” One of Adrianne’s recent community deliveries was through a partnership between Amazon Flex and Lighthouse, a nonprofit near Detroit, Michigan focused on reducing poverty.

Community Delivery is currently available in more than 25 cities, and we’re working to expand. We’re incredibly grateful to the thousands of delivery partners who have supported their communities through this program so far and look forward to seeing the impact continue to grow.

How it Works

In the Amazon Flex app, Community Delivery blocks start with R (for example, RCA5), or begin with “Community” in the name. You’ll find them in the Offers page along with other delivery types if Community Delivery is active in your area.

When you arrive for a Community Delivery pickup, the location will look different than Amazon sites. Community sites are usually food banks and warehouses, so the pickup process takes place in parking lots, alleyways, or other open areas on the property. The site should have an Amazon Flex flag to help guide you in the right direction, as well as staff members from the organization to assist with loading your car and directing traffic. You do not need to scan the packages, since they do not have barcodes. If you run into any issues while doing a Community Delivery, you can contact Support just as you would for another delivery.
