Seattle’s Gig Worker Premium Pay Ordinance

The City of Seattle ended its COVID-19 Civil Emergency Proclamation on October 31, 2022. This included discontinuing the temporary Gig Worker Premium Pay Ordinance (Ordinance No. 126094), which went into effect on June 26, 2020. This ordinance had been established as a short-term COVID-19 measure to provide additional pay of $2.50 for prepared food and grocery deliveries, and $1.25 for each additional pick-up/drop-off point in Seattle. As a result of the City ending the ordinance, delivery partners who make eligible grocery deliveries no longer receive Premium Pay.
