Seattle’s Independent Contractor Protections Ordinance (ICP)

Under the City of Seattle’s Independent Contractor Protections Ordinance (ICP) (Ordinance No. 126373), which went into effect on September 1, 2022, eligible delivery partners have a right to receive a Pre-Work Written Notice, a Notice of Rights, and an Itemized Payment Notice.

Who is covered in this ordinance?

This ordinance covers delivery partners who are self-employed independent contractors who perform any part of their Amazon Flex deliveries in the City of Seattle and meet the additional eligibility criteria outlined in the Notice of Rights. Amazon Flex applies this to all deliveries made in the Greater Seattle Area.

What is the Itemized Payment Notice?

Itemized Payment Notices include an overview of Amazon’s contribution to block fees and other payments, tip earnings from customers, and additional block details such as scheduled start time and estimated duration for deliveries made in the Greater Seattle Area for Amazon Flex.

Where can I find my itemized payment notice?

You can view and download the itemized payment notices in the Amazon Flex Seattle Receipts Portal. Please use your Amazon Flex account credentials to sign-in. To view and download receipts from the Amazon Flex app, please navigate to the Learning portal > Earnings and taxes > Seattle offer and payment receipts. If you need assistance logging in to the Amazon Flex app, you can email Amazon Flex Support at amazonflex-support@amazon.com using the same email address associated with your Amazon Flex account.

Why am I missing delivery blocks on the itemized payment notice?

The Itemized Payment Notice only includes delivery blocks completed in the Greater Seattle Area during the most recent pay period.

Does the ordinance affect my earnings?

No, the ordinance does not affect your earnings or payment schedule while delivering with Amazon Flex.
